Windows 10 FAX and Scan "Forward as an email" is greyed out. Receiving fax works well. I can print faxes but not forward as an email. I'm trying to use the scan function to create a pdf file. When I go into the document scanning menu, my only options are JPEG, TIF, BMP or PNG. The manual says that it will convert to PDF. Why am I not able to see this option? Please help! I have Windows 7. I new computer with the same printer HP Officejet 4500 all in one. Had Windows Vista before and just had to hit the scan button but could also scan to PDF. Now with Windows 7 I am using the Windows Scan and Fax - which I don't really like cause it's just different, but more importantly is does NOT have the PDF option of file type!!! Windows XP includes Fax Console instead. The software is not compatible with T.38 technology and cannot be used for internet faxes.

29/01/2018 · Now onto the real review: Important menus are hidden unnecessarily, and as it is strapped to the Windows UI, random menus have just one option in them. The default scan size isn't Letter, it's A4. The standard format isn't PDF, it's PNG. That isn't even getting to the *real* problem: Windows Scan has no functionality. Forget about advanced Up to a week ago the printer itself would choose PDF output ( it would just ask me to confirm). Now it just asks me to star the scan and once I confirm, it opens Windos (10) Fax and Scan and scans to bmp. By the way, in Windows Fax and Scan there is no option to choose PDF format .
I'm sorry about the issue. Windows Fax and Scan does not have the option to scan to a PDF file, but you can use the HP Envy program on your computer for scanning to a PDF file. 08/01/2018 · I have obviously not made myself clear. Sorry for that. I will try again: After scanning a document with Windows Fax an Scan, you get two or three options. The option I am referring to is "Forward as Email". When this is selected it opens Outlook rather than the free equivalent which my daughter uses which is called eM Client. ( To clear any Windows 10 FAX and Scan "Forward as an email" is greyed out. Receiving fax works well. I can print faxes but not forward as an email.
